The cheapest hotels in Vitebsk
If you want to save money (or just miss the interiors in the style of the late USSR), then first of all pay attention to this trinity:
- Vetraz Hotel;
- Vitebsk Hotel;
- And the Golden Calf mini-hotel.
They’re here like three little pigs. In my mind, I don’t even share them. All have simple rooms, average ratings of previous guests and prices in the area of 70-90 BYN (depending on the specific room and the date of arrival).
Vetraz and Vitebsk have rooms with a view of the river. And the “Golden Calf” has its own bowling and billiards. In principle, you can spend a couple of nights. But you can’t expect anything special from these hotels. Their main advantage is that they are located in the very center.
Recreation rooms of the Vitebsk railway station
Probably everyone knows that there are luggage storage rooms at Belarusian railway stations. But did you know that there are passenger storage rooms at the Vitebsk station?
The rooms here are simple. And you will have to fall asleep to the sound of wheels and the velvety voice of the announcer announcing that the next train will run without stopping. But it’s relatively cheap. And the rooms here are not much inferior to the hotels I wrote about above.

Where would I live: apartments in the old town
Before going to Vitebsk, I identified three good options for myself. Here they are:
- “Odnushka” on Ilyinsky Street overlooking the river and the Assumption Cathedral;
- Apartment on Suvorov Street (literally around the corner from the pedestrian street of the city);
- And this multicolored “two-piece” on Dovator Street.
They all have different prices (75, 100 and 140 BYN). Therefore, focus on your wallet. In principle, all three options are good.
Chain apartments
There is also a network of rental apartments in Vitebsk – Favorit Flats. They all have beautiful designs and good reviews.
But they are not so close to the center – as a rule, in various Vitebsk new buildings. If a 2-kilometer walk doesn’t scare you too much, then you can consider them too. Here is one apartment as an example.
Vitebsk hostels for solo travelers
This is subjective, of course, but, in my opinion, the best hostel in Vitebsk is the hostel X.O. (at least because of its location). It is located in the historical center of the city – a minute’s walk from the Assumption Cathedral. Therefore, the best views are provided for you.

The best hotels in Vitebsk
If for some reason you are biased towards apartments and hostels, then we will return to the hotel segment again.
There is a Smart Boutique Hotel in the city, located in a historic 19th century mansion. He’s cute, but expensive. At the time of publication of the article, rooms here cost 210-280 BYN (and I sincerely do not know where this hotel got such self-esteem from).
In my opinion, the best hotels in Vitebsk are Luchesa, Gubernsky and Eridan. Their room rates range from 150 to 230 BYN. All of them are close to the center. And their reviews are not bad. Therefore, among the hotels, I would consider them first.
Where else can I look for housing in Vitebsk?
If all my efforts were in vain, and by this point you still haven’t found anything, then the most desperate option remains to look for an apartment on various sites with ads. For example, on sites like kufar.by , realt.by , Flea market.Online, vitebsk.irr.by and others.
There are dozens, if not hundreds, of rental apartments there. But they have one very important disadvantage – such sites are not responsible for anything and leave you alone with the landlord. Everything works on the principle of “Call and arrange”. There may be incorrect prices, incorrect photos of housing, and if bad reviews appear, the owner can always delete the ad and place a new one.
Therefore, this option is like a Rollton on the far shelf in the kitchen. As a last resort, you can leave it, but I wouldn’t eat it just like that.
