There are at least 4 ways to get to Rosa Khutor from Sochi airport:
- On city buses (105, 105c and 535);
- By train (direct or with transfer in Adler);
- By taxi;
- And also in a personal car with a driver.
There is also a rather exotic option that combines a bus and a train. But I’ll tell you about him at the very end. In the meantime, let’s go through this basic four. Let’s see what the pros and cons of each option are, and determine the best one. So…
Personal transfer
Have you ever seen at the airport how passengers are greeted in the arrivals hall by a driver with a sign? So this is it. A personal transfer is a cross between a taxi and an organization of people in black.
A chauffeur in a beautiful suit will meet you immediately after arrival, help with your luggage and bring you right to the door of your hotel. There will be water and free Wi-fi in the car. And you can also add a child safety seat there for free when ordering.
There are only two disadvantages : the relatively high price and the fact that any car is not immune from traffic jams. Well, in all other respects, the option is, of course, a good one.
The fare ranges from 2000 to 3200 RUB per car for 4 people. A minivan and a minibus for a large company, of course, will cost more.

Regular taxi and private drivers
As soon as you leave the airport, you are immediately attacked by flocks of local taxi drivers. You don’t need to look for them. They will find you on their own. And then they will be loudly offended if you refuse to go with them. The usual fare ranges from 500 to 1000 rub per person (!) and largely depends on how respectable you look.
Personally, I don’t like this attitude, but you shouldn’t immediately discount the taxi option either (if only because the buses are crowded and are regularly late). Instead, it’s better to open the Yandex Taxi app, look at the current prices and bargain, knowing exactly the real order of the numbers. It is quite possible to bargain for 1500 2000 rub per car..
City buses
The easiest option is to get from Sochi airport to Rosa Khutor. You exit the terminal and just follow the arrows. The bus stops will follow one after the other. But it is difficult to make a mistake there – the right site will have such a blue inscription “To Krasnaya Polyana”.
As I said, buses No.105, 105C and 535 travel to Rosa Khutor and Esto-Sadok. The fare is 248 RUB. The driver collects the money at the entrance. You can pay in cash or by card. The bus fleet is represented by the usual Minsk buses. Therefore, there is nothing unusual here.
The fun begins next. And so we smoothly move on to the disadvantages of this travel option. There are at least three of them here:
First of all, there are often traffic jams on the roads, so travel time can stretch and contract like cosmic matter.
Secondly, , someone is constantly asking the driver something, and for this reason the bus stands for a long time at almost every stop.
And the third: during the trip the bus shakes a lot, so be mentally prepared for the festival of unprecedented vomiting. For adults, it’s probably not that scary. But my 4-year-old daughter got seasick both on the way “THERE” and on the way “Back”. Some guy in the next seat was also constantly running out and hiding behind the bus stop. Judging by the sounds, he was either vomiting, or he had some long-standing scores with this stop.
The driver looked at such outpourings with the calmness of a wise turtle who has learned Zen. Therefore, he stopped without any problems every time he was asked to do so.
Travel time – from 80 minutes to 2 hours.

How to get from Sochi airport to Rosa Khutor by train/commuter train?
Trains with electric trains also run to Rosa Khutor from Sochi airport. The departure station is located to the left of the exit from the arrival hall. To find it, just look carefully at your feet. At some point, these red arrows will appear there that will show you the way.
The big plus is that the trains don’t shake so much, so this trip is not so dangerous for the contents of the stomach. But there is only one direct train from the airport. It departs at 11:40.

Another option to get to Rosa Khutor by train is to go with a transfer in Adler or Khost. There are more such flights. But the duration of the transplant can reach up to an hour and a half. Therefore, it is better to check the schedule and plan your route in advance.

It is also worth canceling another one important nuance. Rosa Khutor Railway Station is located quite far from the lifts. Therefore, before traveling, take a close look at exactly where your hotel is located.
We lived in the Olympic Mountain Village, at the top station of the Olympia ski lift (at an altitude of 1100 meters). It is about 2 kilometers from the railway station to the cable car. And walking 2 km with suitcases is a so–so pleasure.
Other travel options
As a final chord, I will tell you about the combined route with bus and train. First you need to take bus No. 558 and get from the airport to the Imereti resort (also known as the Olympic Park or Sirius). And then catch that very train in the direction of Rosa Khutor. Do you need it? Decide for yourself. It seems to me that this option is like a rollton on the far shelf in the kitchen. In case of emergency, it will do. But normally, I would choose something else.
My favorite hotel in Rosa Khutor
I discovered this place almost by accident. I found him in some newsletter with a story about the best hotels in Russia. We decided to go — and in the end, we liked it so much that now we spend almost every autumn in this place.
The hotel is called Rosa Springs, and it made a very pleasant impression on me. There are mountains on all sides, and the hotel itself has a swimming pool, sauna, large wellness center and even its own pump room with mineral water. And there is also excellent cuisine and a wonderful selection of dishes for breakfast and dinner. There are free programs for adults and children. My wife went to yoga and psychology lectures. And my daughter goes to “pirate” parties and quizzes on the heroes of fairy tales.
