There are at least 4 ways to get to Georgia from Belarus:
- Direct flights (to Tbilisi, Kutaisi and Batumi);
- By bus (with various travel agencies);
- And also with many transfers through North Ossetia and the Upper Lars checkpoint.
Another option is to fly from Moscow. Flights from the Russian capital are often noticeably cheaper than direct flights from Minsk. Therefore, this option is also worth considering.
Anyway, there’s plenty to choose from. In this article, I will talk about each of the possible ways in turn. And you can already see for yourself which one is closer to you.
Option No. 1. Planes from Minsk to Georgia
Let’s start with a simple one. Direct flight is the most reliable and most convenient way to get to Georgia from Belarus. All you need to do is go to the Belavia website and find the right tickets.
There are direct flights from Belarus to Tbilisi, Batumi and Kutaisi. At the time of publication, flights cost around 500 BYN (per one-way flight). But the price can vary a lot. And to predict it, you need to have three fortune tellers and a couple of finalists of the “Battle of Psychics”.
How can I save money on a flight?
Check flights from Minsk to Kutaisi. It is often this airport that offers the best fares. And from the capital of Imereti, you can continue by bus Georgian Bus. They will take you directly from Kutaisi airport to Tbilisi or Batumi. The exact prices and schedule can be viewed on the website.georgianbus.com .
If you want to relax a little, you can spend a couple of nights in Kutaisi itself (for example, to visit the Martville canyons and Prometheus Cave). It is the easiest way to get to these places from the capital Imereti. The current cost of excursions can be viewed here.
Option #2. Direct flights from Moscow
Buying tickets is an inaccurate science. And I do not know if flights from Moscow will actually be cheaper than flights from Minsk. But this option is also worth checking out. To add some specifics, I will provide a “Low Price Calendar” below. There you can see how prices change in different months.
At the time of writing, flights from Russia are about a third cheaper than flights from Minsk. But they will also have to add transit costs for “pre-trip travel” to their price.
How much more will you have to add to the cost of the Moscow air ticket?
The cheapest train ticket to Moscow currently costs 118 BYN. You can view the schedule and buy tickets on the website of the Belarusian Railway – RW.BY . Plus, you will have to pay another 1050 RUB (32 BYN) for the Aeroexpress fare to get from Moscow to the airport you need. The total is 270-300 BYN per person (for round trip).
Transit hotel in Moscow
Lately, I often fly on vacation through the capital of Russia. And I almost always stay overnight in this hotel.
It is convenient to get to Belorussky railway station and all airports from here. Nearby there is a large shopping center (Aviamall), and literally in the next building there is a small coffee shop Smart Coffee lab with good coffee and cheap breakfasts.
It’s a great option for a transit stop. If you decide to travel to Georgia via Moscow, be sure to take a closer look at this hotel.
Option #3. Bus
The cheapest way to get from Belarus to Georgia. There are departures from Minsk, Gomel and many other cities. The price starts from $120 (410 BYN) for one-way travel. This price usually includes a transfer and 1-2 nights in transit hotels onterritories of Russia.
You can find similar offers on many different websites. Например:
- epifora.by;
- favorit-travel.by and others.
But you have to understand that two days on the bus is still travel-masochism. Somewhere in the Voronezh region, the bus will turn into a public bathhouse. And three kilometers from Rostov-on-Don, you will begin to seriously consider suicide. Whether you need it is up to you to think for yourself.
Option #4. A trip through North Ossetia
Another option that can only be considered seriously if you are being chased by the Nazgul. The main advantage of this route is the abundance of cheap tickets from Moscow to Vladikavkaz (starting from 30 euros per ticket). And the main disadvantage is the large number of transfers.
Tickets to North Ossetia are available here. And you can view the bus schedule from Vladikavkaz to Tbilisi on the website.avtovokzal15.ru .
Another snag is the Upper Lars mountain checkpoint, which is often closed due to weather conditions. Therefore, before traveling, be sure to check the telegram channel t.me/VerhniyLars or VK group vk.com/vrlars . They post up-to-date information about the checkpoint every day.
The rules of entry to Georgia for citizens of the most beautiful country in the world
If you have a Belarusian passport, then you can go on vacation to Batumi or Tbilisi without a visa. PCR tests were also canceled a long time ago, so the only caveat here is that you have insurance. Technically, it was needed before. But starting from 1.06.2024, they will be fined (300 GEL) for its absence.
The insurance package must include:
- at least $5,000/€ for emergency outpatient services;
- and $30,000/€ for hospital services.
The insurance must be issued in Georgian, English or Russian. If you forgot to make a policy before your trip, you can also buy it online, for example, on this website.

How to rent a car in Georgia?
Georgia is a beautiful country. But many points of interest here can be reached either by rented car or by taxi with some kind of local guide. I can’t drive. That’s why we traveled around the country with this man (with a mustache like Yakubovich’s).
So we got to the Akhaltsikhe fortress, the cave city of Vardzia, countless different viewing platforms in the mountains and old signal towers. But, of course, all these trips cost us a decent amount.
It will be cheaper to rent a car. Especially if you are traveling with the whole family. You can view the exact prices here. My good friend said that this is the best car rental website in Georgia.
