There are at least 5 ways to get to Brest from Minsk:
- By train
- Minibus
- By bus
- And on various kinds of hitchhiking trips.
The fifth option is a trip with an excursion. But it’s worth talking about separately. So let’s put it out of the brackets for now.
Well, first of all, let’s deal with the main issues. Which transport should I choose? How much are the tickets? And how to make your trip as comfortable and budget-friendly as possible? I will talk about all this later in this “transport” review.
Minsk – Brest train: brief information
Travel time: from 3 to 4.5 hours (depending on the specific flight).
Ticket price: from 14 to 36 BYN.

The same thing, but expanded
10 trains travel from Minsk to Brest every day. The schedule is very convenient, so you can go to the west of the country in the morning and late at night.
Most of the trains are “Business Class” trains with seated (!) seats for passengers. They are very new. The carriages have a toilet and sockets under the seats. And such trains travel quite fast. Therefore, you can get to Brest in 3 – 3, 5 hours.
In fact, they have only two disadvantages – these are quite high prices and not the most logical placement of seats in the cabin. Some of them are looking at each other. Some are lined up three in a row. But in general, these are small things.
There are regular (reserved and compartment) seats on international trains that travel from Russia. They are older, but noticeably cheaper. Tickets can be bought here for 18 BYN or slightly more expensive.
As I wrote above, you can use the website to buy ticketsRW.BY . It is very comfortable. E-tickets do not need to be printed. And you will just be allowed into the carriage using your passport.
But if you are an Old Believer passenger, then, of course, you can go to the ticket offices of the station. It is located in Minsk near the Lenin Square metro station. You can buy tickets both in the main building and in a small building next door. It looks like this.
There’s usually less of a queue.
Minibuses from Minsk to Brest. All the main things in short
Travel time: 4-5 hours.
Ticket price: from 35 to 47 BYN.

About the pros and cons of minibuses
Minibuses are Satan’s weapon. They are designed to test the strength of your knees. And many transport companies have such amazing websites that it seems they were made in the dark by drunken Vietnamese schoolchildren.
As you understand, I don’t like minibuses. But they have one important plus there are always a lot of them. Therefore, you can leave for Brest even in the morning, even in the evening, even for the third round of the program “Field of Miracles”. Did something go wrong with the train? The cheerful beads of the Mercedes Sprinter model are always at your service.
The main thing is to look at where a particular flight departs from. Most of the minibuses depart from the central bus station. But there are also those that depart from the site near the metro station “Institute of Culture”.
Buses to Brest: brief information
Travel time: 4-5 hours.
Ticket price: from 25 to 40 BYN.

A few words from myself
The first thing to say right away is that many “buses to Brest” are surprisingly similar to minibuses. They’re so similar that you can’t tell them apart right away. At the time of publication of the article, I found only one full-fledged MAZ in the schedule. And everything else is a small Mercedes Sprinter type model.
Therefore, you can also not count on a large legroom here. I repeat once again – for the most part these are the same minibuses (only state-owned companies).
Hitchhiking
The most unreliable option, since everything here is built on the principle of “As you agree”. You can find travel companions to Brest on the websites blablacar and we are going.rf. And also in different VK groups (for example, on the pagevk.com/poputchik_minsk_brest ).
Excursions to Brest from Minsk
If you are going to Brest as a tourist, then this option should be considered one of the first. You will be picked up from the center of Minsk, taken to the west of the country and transported to all major points in 1 day. You will walk around the city center, see the Brest Fortress and the Thirst Memorial, and then go to Belovezhskaya Pushcha (to feed deer and take selfies with bison).
As a rule, the price includes travel, guide services, free museum tickets and the same free lunch.
You can view all the details here.
How do I find housing in Brest now?
…Excursions have only one important disadvantage – their duration. Brest is a good city, and it is quite possible to give it two or even three days to see everything in a more relaxed rhythm. But in this case, you will have to look for an apartment in the city.
For example, I really liked this studio near the embankment of the Bug. From here, the whole city is in the palm of your hand. For tourists, this is almost an ideal option.
If you do not need an apartment, namely a good hotel for the duration of the trip, then pay attention to this hotel. It’s not the cheapest, but it’s perfect for a romantic weekend.
As an alternative, I will also offer you two more budget options. These are mini-hotel “Gogol” and hotel “Molodezhnaya”. They are without frills, but they look decent and are located near the center.
