Rosa Springs in Rosa Khutor: review of the hotel that stole my heart

I used to have a whole column called “Where we lived“. There I talked about the different apartments and hotels we stayed in during our travels. But to be honest, such posts have always collected few readings. So pretty soon I abandoned it. And there has not been such a place that I would like to tell you about for a long time.

But this fall we went to the Rosa Springs Hotel (in the Rosa Khutor mountain resort). And he just stole my heart.

I realized that we would become friends as soon as I saw him. A huge hotel under a cap of white clouds. Around there is a well–groomed area with sun loungers, where you could just lie around looking at the mountains…

In the hall there are leather sofas, pleasant Alpine–style decor and a small fireplace. There are lovely girls at the counter who immediately upgraded our room.

Initially, we booked the “Standard without balcony”. But as it turned out a little later, there was still a balcony in our room. And standing on it, I admired these kinds of views every day.

I even regretted that we spent the previous 4 days at the Bolshoi Sochi at sea. I definitely like the mountains more.

About filling rooms

All rooms in the hotel are very beautiful and cozy. But personally, I was much more surprised by the pleasant little things that filled the space around. Since we were traveling with Alice, they immediately brought a baby robe to our room, a baby toilet cover, a step so that she could wash her hands in the washbasin, and even put a separate bed for her (which originally should not have been in the room).

A couple of days later, children’s coloring books and pencils appeared in our room. It may seem that this is all nonsense, but it is in such small things that the attitude of the hotel towards each guest is manifested.

You can view photos of the rooms and read more about their contents here.

About long corridors, SPA and herbal teas

The Rosa Springs Hotel is just huge. Sometimes it seemed to me that it was a good kilometer from our room to the SPA center. As you walk, there is another corridor beyond the long corridor. Thank God that there were chairs everywhere along the way and special signs hung (otherwise I was constantly confused).

And there was a place to point. Rosa Springs Hotel positions itself as a “Medical and Spa” complex. Therefore, in addition to the rooms (and corridors) there was a large medical building with medical offices, massage rooms and various therapeutic capsules. All this is provided for a fee. The price of our room included only an initial examination by a doctor, but, to be honest, we ignored it. Therefore, I will not write anything more about the medical chips of the hotel.

But as for the “SPA”, here we came off to the fullest. Sauna, hammam, swimming pool and herbal teas, which were constantly in the water-thermal zone, became an integral part of our daily program.

In the mornings, Tanya went to free yoga classes, which were held here on a special site right against the backdrop of the mountains. And in the evenings we usually spent time in the sauna.

On the ground floor there was a pump room with unlimited mineral water. My wife and I were sitting at the table, and Alice was playing waiter, pouring us one glass after another.

Nearby (near the reception) There was a special stand where the program of activities for the day was posted every day. For adults, there were free yoga classes, various lectures on psychology and (paid) excursions to neighboring locations.

There are various workshops, “pirate parties” and drawing lessons for children.

An example of such a program for the day.

If desired, children (over 4 years old) it was possible to leave it with a tutor in the children’s room. I remember the day when Alice and I rode funiculars, climbed above the clouds and looked into the waterfall park. But of the whole day, she remembered most of all that in the morning “Aunt Jeanne in the children’s room molded a plasticine leaf with her.”

Hotel food

Rosa Springs in Rosa Khutor: review of the hotel that stole my heart

In the Olympic Village, where the hotel is located, there are practically no full–fledged shops – only a couple of small shops with inflated prices. Therefore, from the very beginning we decided to take Half Board at the hotel, so that we would not waste time looking for a restaurant every day. We paid 9800 rub (approximately 315 BYN) per night at the hotel. The amount looks impressive, but if you keep in mind that a regular lunch at a restaurant will cost you 750-1000 rub per person, everything becomes not so scary at all.

Breakfast and dinner were served at a local restaurant on the ground floor. There was live music on weekends. And views of the Sochi mountains opened outside the windows.

For children (or rather for family companies) A separate corner was equipped with cartoons, coloring books, toys and all kinds of snacks (like halva, corn sticks and pretzels). There were also high chairs, baby mugs and heaters for milk bottles. I repeat: it seems that all these are trifles. But it is from such components that the overall impression of the hotel is formed.

As for the food, the only thing I didn’t like was the coffee from the coffee machine. But otherwise, it’s just 10 out of 10. At breakfast and dinner there was always a large table with fruits, as well as a separate counter with pastries and sweets. The drinks included tea, coffee, two types of juice (orange and tomato), drinking yogurt and a variety of fresh fruits (such as apple/blueberry/celery).

The set of main dishes was constantly changing. There were Georgian khinkali, Norwegian salmon soup, Bavarian sausages and a lot more. In total, there were always 10-12 positions to choose from. Plus pickled snacks, two types of soups, fruits, pastries, etc. This was more than enough to eat.

From time to time, I also dragged pastries and fruits from there to my room. And the administration treated this as loyally as possible.

Outside the hotel

As I said, Rosa Springs Hotel is located in the Olympic Village, about a 3-minute walk from the Olympia Ski Lift.

On the day of check-in we were given a free travel pass for the entire period of stay and a small book with discounts on other popular locations of the resort. There was almost everything: an alpaca farm, a husky farm, a rodelban, a rope park, various museums and even discount coupons for some restaurants.

Package tickets for other lifts (besides Olympia) we also bought it with a discount (15%). I downloaded some kind of application, the girls at the reception helped me register, and instead of 5100 rub for 2 “adult” tickets, I gave 4335 rub.

This price included 4 lifts, as well as entrance tickets to the ethnographic complex “My Russia” and the park of waterfalls “Mendelikha” (however, only for the small ring).

There were two trekking routes and an endless variety of different sites with mountain views within walking distance from the hotel. You go out into the street – and immediately such beauty spreads around you.

The Alley of Flags began a little further down the street… There was also a Surf Coffee shop, a budget canteen “Casserole”, as well as several good restaurants (“Pear”, “Mitten” and “Game”).

On the first day, we walked the “Lake Traverse” route, took pictures against the background of the mountains and reached the alpaca Park in about 20 minutes.

A free minibus took us back to the hotel. Her bus stop was a 3-minute walk from the hotel.

Output

In general, I really liked the Rosa Springs hotel. If you are looking for a truly comfortable place to relax in the mountains, be sure to check out his page.

Well, if you need a more budget option for an overnight stay, then pay attention to other hotels nearby:

  • Panda Shelter (from 2500 rub);
  • AYS Let it snow (2800 rub);
  • and “Hotel 28” (from 4000 rub).

I wrote more about them in a separate article at the link below.

I also recommend reading my other articles on Rosa Khutor resort. For example, I have a selection of inexpensive restaurants in the mountains, as well as a detailed story about what to do in Rosa Khutor in summer and autumn. They will help you better prepare for your trip.
