There are currently only two ways to get from Minsk to Kazan directly.:
- By plane (in 2.5 hours);
- Or together with an excursion tour with various travel companies.
All other options imply a transit stop in Moscow or other Russian cities. Trains and buses run from there to Kazan. And there are significantly more flights at Moscow airports (which allows you to save a lot on tickets).
I know that many people are intimidated by trips with transfers. But it is as it is. Next, I’ll tell you about all the possible options, and you can already think for yourself which one will suit you personally.
Plane from Minsk to Kazan
Direct flights from Minsk to Tatarstan are in the Belavia line. Flights are operated twice a week – on Wednesdays and Sundays. And the flight itself lasts about 2.5 hours. The cost of tickets, as always, varies greatly depending on the time of departure, current promotions and many other factors. For example, in April, tickets are sold for 350 BYN per one-way flight. And in June, the cost increases almost three times (up to 970 BYN).
More detailed information can be found on the website.Belavia.by or through the convenient search engine Avionero. It makes it easy to choose connecting options and compare offers from several airlines at once.
Bus tours to Kazan from Minsk
If you are afraid of flying, then you can go to Tatarstan with sightseeing tours. It’s not that convenient (at least because of the overnight commute). But there is such an option. And finding the right exit is not so difficult.
For example, tours to Kazan are available from companies such as: anitatour, bigtrip, bogemia travel and many others. Field trips are arranged 2-3 times a month. The cost of trips ranges from 700 to 1250 BYN (for round trip).
The travel itinerary (in addition to Kazan itself) usually includes Nizhny Novgorod and/or Yoshkar-Ola. But whether this can be called an advantage is debatable. At least, because of this, you will have very little time for Kazan itself.
Connecting trips in Moscow
As I have already mentioned, there is currently no direct rail or bus service between Kazan and Minsk. But once you get to Moscow, there will be ten times more travel options to Tatarstan.
- Trains from the Russian capital to Kazan cost from 1,500 to 2,500 rub (52-88 BYN). More expensive tickets are available in premium class carriages, but I will put them out of the brackets today.
- Bus tickets on the same route will cost you a similar amount – from 1800 to 2500 rub (from 63 to 88 BYN);
- And for a plane ticket you will have to pay from 4,000 to 12,000 rub (that is, 140-430 BYN).
The travel time will also vary. A train ride will take 11-13 hours, a bus flight – from 12 to 14 hours, and an airplane flight – about 1.5 hours.
