Kossovsky Castle is like Tambov from Murat Nasyrov’s song, because there are no planes flying there today and not even trains. You can get to Kossovo only with a transit stop in Ivatsevichi (and even then, only after refueling with valerian). I’ll tell you everything now, and you be careful. Of course, everything is very confusing here. So let’s figure it out progressively.
Step one: Ivatsevichi
Photos from social networks. The author is Denis Mordas.
So… First of all, you need to get to the town with the romantic name Ivatsevichi. There are trains going there. Plus, it is located approximately in the middle between Minsk and Brest, so it is quite easy to get there. Travel time:
- Minsk – Ivatsevichi: 2.5 hours.
- Brest – Ivatsevichi: about 1.5 hours.
See the timetable on the website of the Belarusian Railway – RW.BY . At the time of publication of the article tickets from Minsk cost 15 BYN, and from Brest 5-11 BYN.
Step two: Kossovo
Several buses and minibuses travel from Ivatsevichi to Kossovo at once. But (!) the local bus station is so fond of giving passengers surprises that you won’t find their schedules anywhere. There is such a flight layout on the Kossovsky Castle website.
But as they say: “It’s Ivatsevichi, baby.” Therefore, one half of the buses from this sign has long been canceled, and the other half has been postponed.
The good news is that you will definitely leave for Kossovsky Castle. You don’t have to worry about that. But when (or rather, at what time) it will happen is quite difficult to predict.
I arrived from Minsk by train at 10:15 a.m. And at 11:30 I took the Ivatsevichi – Kossovo minibus (3,5 BYN). It takes about half an hour to get to the castle. That’s why I was already there at noon.
Bright stained glass windows in the Puslovsky Palace
The return buses were at 13:00 and 15:00, and of course I chose the latter. I also tried to find out about later flights, but at that moment my Pikachu charm left me. The serious woman in the window frowned and said with displeasure that I was asking too many questions. And the Ivatsevichi, apparently, do not forgive this.
So what should I do to plan everything in advance?
Call the Ivatsevichi bus station. Their phone number is +375 (1645) 2-49-50. It’s not difficult to get through. It’s harder to catch the moment when the woman on the other end of the line is in a good mood. Therefore, it is better to immediately think about what you will ask her.
Excursions to Kossovsky Castle
It is much easier to go to the Puslovsky Palace with an excursion. You will be picked up by bus from Minsk, taken to the castle, and on the way you will be told many interesting stories about the fate of the complex itself and its former owners.
In addition to the castle in Kossovo, you can also see the neighboring Ruzhansky Palace and the Tadeusz Kosciuszko Museum. Therefore, prepare for the fact that the trip will last for the whole day.
You can find out the cost of the tour and see all the details here. If you are traveling without a car, this is the best option for a trip.
And how to get to the Ruzhansky Palace on your own?
You can combine Kossovsky and Ruzhansky castles in one trip. I knew that there are flights that pass both points in turn. But I couldn’t find out their schedule (and get through to the Kossovo bus station).
I found normal information only on the website.atlasbus.by . There you can see the timetable of minibuses from Ivatsevichi to Ruzhany.
Therefore, I decided not to take any chances, and after examining the Kossovsky castle, I returned to the Ivatsevichi railway station. There I took a minibus to Ruzhan and went to see the Sapieha Palace complex. Yes, it turned out to be a hook. But I was able to plan everything more or less in advance.
- Ticket price Ivatsevichi – Ruzhany: 3.6 – 4.5 BYN.
- Travel time between cities: 50 minutes.
Conclusion from everything that was said above
Ruzhansky Palace
My entire route looked like this:
- Minsk – Ivatsevichi (train)
- Ivatsevichi – Kossovo (bus)
- Kossovo – Ivatsevichi (bus)
- Ivatsevichi – Ruzhany (bus)
- Ruzhany – Brest (bus)
- Brest – Minsk (train).
Is it worth recommending something like this to adequate people? Of course not! Only if you (like me) are a fan of travel masochism and are not averse to making fun of your body.
I recommend two things to everyone else:
- Pay attention again to excursions to Kossovo and Ruzhany (this is really the best option for a trip);
- Or choose only one of the two castles for yourself (and not try to embrace the immensity).
As I said, you can get to the Puslovsky Palace by public transport. Yes, due to the lack of a normal schedule, the trip will carry a bit of crazy unpredictability. But you will definitely (!) arrive in Kossovo, and you will definitely (!) return back to Ivatsevichi (from where trains run to Brest and Minsk).
If you suddenly need a place to live…
Then take a look at these two sites…
- Daily.
- And
After Booking and AIRBNB have left us, this is the best option to find an overnight stay while traveling around Belarus. For example, you can arrange a big trip to Kossovo- Ruzhany- Brest and stretch such a trip for a whole weekend. Turn on your imagination and go ahead.
All that remains for me is to share with you my article about the sights of Brest and say goodbye. I hope my story will help you prepare for the trip a little better.
