Articles like oatmeal for breakfast are simple, boring, but extremely useful. Therefore, let’s dispense with long introductions now and focus entirely on transport issues. In this post I will tell you:
- How to get from Sirius to Rosa Khutor;
- Where can I find a free bus?
- And which transport is better to choose?
Also this article will be useful for those who go to Krasnaya Polyana and Esto-Sadok. The resorts are very close to each other – and actually merge into a single resort agglomeration. Why they were separated, I do not know. The boundary between them often has to be searched with a magnifying glass.
How to get from Sirius to Rosa Khutor? Everything is important in short
So… There are at least 5 ways to get to the mountains from the sea coast:
- On buses 535 and 535e;
- On trains and electric trains;
- On “teams” taxis with other passengers;
- On free buses “Free tour 5041“;
- And also with organized tourist groups.
As you can see, there is plenty to choose from. But each option has its drawbacks. I will tell you more about them below.
Option No.1. Buses to Rosa Khutor from Sirius and Adler
There are only two of them – 535 and 535E. The first one stops at each pillar, so you will get to the mountains for 2.5 hours (or even more). His express companion is traveling noticeably faster. But even in a good scenario, the road will still take an hour and a half. So get ready for a long trip.
Another disadvantage is that on local roads it is quite very seasick. If you are going to the mountains with children, be sure to keep a bag with you (for good luck). And don’t hesitate to ask the driver for an extra stop.
Travel time: from 75 minutes to 2.5 hours.
Fare: 180 rub (there will be a small discount when paying with a bank card);
The route and bus schedule can be viewed on the Yandex Maps website.
“Prefabricated taxis” and private drivers
When we first got from Sirius to Rosa Khutor, we chose the bus option (535e). But the gods of the Sochi car park only laughed at our plans. The bus did not arrive. We stood sad with our suitcases in the heat. And the driver was constantly spinning next to us, who (with the look of an inveterate fatalist) calmly said that this was normal.
As a result, about half an hour later (when the hope for the Sochi fleet finally faded), he took out his phone, called someone – and such a minivan appeared in front of us.
A young (and extremely serious) Caucasian man was driving. And there are 5 other passengers in the cabin.
The fare was 450 rub per person (I picked up my three–year-old daughter, so I didn’t have to pay anything for her). We got to the mountains pretty quickly. Beautiful views swept by outside the window. Therefore, even the chanson playing in the car didn’t piss me off very much.
In general, this option can also be recommended. It is more expensive than a bus, but cheaper than a regular taxi. Current prices and schedules can be found by phone 8 (980) 8888-566.
Trains and commuter trains
You can also get from Sirius to Rosa Khutor by rail. It is comfortable and relatively easy. But there are disadvantages here too. First of all, from the hotel you first need to get to the train station (and it is located quite far from the tourist part of the city). And secondly, a direct train runs only once a day. Therefore, you will either have to adjust to it, or go with a transfer in Adler.
You can buy a ticket for a direct train here (in the column “Departure station” enter the Olympic Park or Imereti resort).
And the layout of other trains can be viewed on the websiteYandex Schedule. It will show you not only direct routes, but also routes with transfers.
Travel time: 1 hour (by direct train) and 1.5-2 hours if traveling with a transfer.
The ticket price starts from 650 rub.
Advantages: fast, comfortable and not motion sickness, like on the bus.
One important disadvantage. Although the train station in the mountains is called Rosa Khutor, it is located in Esto-Sadka. The Olympia ski lift is still about 2 kilometers away. By bus, it’s literally 5 minutes. But jumping with suitcases from one transport to another is a so–so pleasure.
“Free” buses 5041
You can find out about them by writing to What’s Up at +7 928 233-03-99 (or 8 (928) 459-77-57). The company is called Free tour 5041. And its buses run 6 times a day between the sea coast of Sirius and the mountains of the Rosa Khutor resort.
You need to sign up for the bus first. Then you will be booked a seat in the cabin, and you will know that the driver will not leave without you. But the passage here is not completely free. An adult ticket costs RUB 680, and a child ticket costs RUB 400. The whole joke is that for the purchase of a travel card you are given a coupon, which can then be used on the cable cars of Krasnaya Polyana and Rosa Khutor.
You pay 680 rub for travel, and then you get 680 rub discounts on funiculars. In general, the option is not bad, but I did not use it myself.
An important disadvantage. Just like trains, buses of the company “5041” reach only Krasnaya Polyana. The remaining 2 km to Rosa Khutor you will either have to walk or take regular buses.
Excursions to Rosa Khutor
And this is the best option for those who go to the mountains one day (without an overnight stay). You will be picked up from the hotel, driven through all the waterfalls, springs, mountain valleys and suspension bridges, and along the way you will be told about the 2014 Olympics and life in Sochi after it.
All companies have slightly different travel routes. Some include the mineral springs of Chvizhepse, others – the Gazprom Galaktika water park, others – the Sochi Skypark or something else. Therefore, I will not recommend anything specific. It’s better to check everything yourself. You can do this on the following sites:
- The first one;
- The second one.
The cost of excursions to the mountains of Sochi usually ranges from 450 to 500 rub. It is slightly more expensive than two bus tickets (180+180), but cheaper than trips by train (650+650) or a “combined” taxi (450+450).
Disadvantages. The main thing is not to buy such trips in street shops, because it’s not even a cat in a bag, but a skunk in a bag. Any surprises are possible there. Normal excursions and professional guides, of course, are not such a rare phenomenon. But it is better to choose them based on the reviews of previous tourists (at those sites where these reviews actually exist).
Three cheap hotels in Rosa Khutor
And more… You should understand that one day in the mountains is too little to explore Sochi National Park. Ideally, you should spend at least a week here. Rent a nice hotel with meals and a free swimming pool – and walk quietly against the backdrop of mountains and waterfalls.
We lived in this SPA hotel ourselves. It’s very cool, but relatively expensive. Accommodation and half board here cost us 9000 rub per day.
I understand that this is a serious amount for many, so I have collected the TOP 3 cheapest Rosa Khutor hotels below. Here they are…
- AYS Let it snow
- Hotel 28
- Panda Shelter.
Prices here range from 1700 to 4000 rub per room. You won’t find anything cheaper than this trio in the mountains right now.
Where to eat cheap in Rosa Khutor?
Here I can recommend you several establishments:
- Canteen “Casserole”;
- Cafe “28” (operating at the hotel of the same name);
- And the gastronomic space “Food Street” with many shops with a variety of food.
