Egypt is a great option to soak up the rays and make up for the lack of vitamin D, because it’s relatively close to fly there and the prices are reasonable.
There are very few disadvantages in this North African country in autumn, and the advantages become even brighter. One of the main advantages is excellent weather and comfortable air and water temperatures. The weather in Egypt in autumn by month
The best month to travel is October, but there are many advantages in September and November. In addition, holidays begin in Russia in the first half of November, and this is a great option to go to Egypt in good weather with school children.
In September, there are fewer tourists – school time and the working season after the holidays begin. In particular, the number of local tourists is decreasing, for whom autumn is already a cool time for a sea holiday.
Egypt is one of the most affordable destinations, where there are hotels and tours of different classes. It is also always attractive for direct flights and the simplicity of the visa regime.
It is a rather hot country, most of it is covered with desert sands, snow falls extremely rarely, and the sun shines 320 days a year. Therefore, the summer months here are very sultry and the heat is exhausting. The winds are too strong in winter. All these disadvantages are not present in autumn.
In early September, Egypt is still hot in summer. The air temperature is from 36 to 40 degrees. But in the second half of the month, the heat drops to 32-35 °C.
The best weather is in October – this is the most comfortable season to sunbathe and swim in the sea. It’s 30 degrees in the afternoon and a pleasant 25-26 degrees in the evening. Precipitation is very rare, and the wind is only in the form of a refreshing breeze. It is 26 degrees in Hurghada, 28 degrees in Sharm el-Sheikh.
Vacation in Egypt in November is a velvety time, suitable for those who can hardly stand the heat. The temperature is 24-30 ° C, you can still get a great tan and swim in warm water, while there are no burning rays. But the closer it gets to winter, the cooler the wind gets and it may not be very comfortable. Although it is warm during the day, temperature fluctuations make themselves felt, and at night it can be up to 17-21 ° C. In November, it’s already worth walking in a windbreaker in the evening. A cool breeze tends to turn into a sandstorm or into cold gusts of icy wind. This is not beach weather at all. To avoid this problem as much as possible and prolong the summer, it is worth choosing a hotel in a closed bay. There will be almost no wind there, and all the advantages of rest will remain.
Sunscreen should definitely be used, despite the autumn months, choosing the appropriate spf level. It is advisable to wear light-colored closed clothes, cover your head, drink plenty of water and try to limit the time spent in the sun.
One of the disadvantages of an autumn trip to Egypt is that the daylight hours are gradually shortening. In September, the sun sets quite early, around 18 o’clock. It will be dark by 17.00 in November. But in a good hotel, a short daylight will not be a problem. It is better to choose a higher–class hotel if you like to actively spend evenings and nights – there will be bars, night shows, live music and evening animation.
Sea temperature
Most people come to Egypt for a beach holiday, so the water temperature is very important. The Red Sea is very pleasant in autumn, it heats up during the summer, it is as comfortable as possible to swim and dive into the water. It is especially good to observe fish at this water temperature – in September the sea warms up to 28-29 ° C, in October to 27-28 ° C and in November to 26-27 ° C. It is almost impossible to freeze.
There is also the Mediterranean Sea in the north of Egypt, it is cooler – about +25 and leaving the water you can shiver a little. Not everyone will be able to swim in the Mediterranean in November, the temperature is 22-23 °C.
Weather by resorts
Sharm el Sheikh
In Sharm el Sheikh, September begins with intense heat, which gradually subsides by the end of the month, leaving +30-35 ° C during the day and +25-30 ° C at night. The wind is rare. The water temperature is 27-28 degrees.
You also need to choose the beach with caution – there are a lot of corals near the shore in Charm. Therefore, for a holiday with children, stop at beaches with a good sunset. There are wonderful places for diving with beginner training, beautiful reefs near the shore and the opportunity to explore the underwater world. There are many water parks in this resort (Aqua Park City, Cleo Park), a dolphinarium, there are interesting excursions to the city, to the Ras Mohammed Nature Reserve and the Colored Canyon.
In October, the average daily temperature in Sharm el-Sheikh is from +30 to +35 °C.
A beach holiday in Egypt in November at this resort is also very pleasant. The city is surrounded by mountains, so the wind here will not interfere with your rest too much. There are several cozy coves in this area, and the average temperature is higher than in other parts of Egypt: during the day up to +30 °C, at night up to +23 °C.
The resort of Sharm el Sheikh is specially built for tourists and is as convenient as possible, therefore it is considered one of the best places to relax. It has modern infrastructure and is generally cleaner than in other regions of the country.
Hurghada
Hurghada is located on a plain, so the wind is quite strong here. The resort is quite good in September and October with a refreshing breeze, but in November the wind can already be unpleasant. Due to the wind, it is generally cooler here than in Sharm el-Sheikh.
In September, there are cloudless days in Hurghada, the air temperature is +30-35 °C during the day and +25-30 ° C at night, there is no rain.
The water temperature is 27-28 and definitely not lower than +26 ° C. In fact, this is a summer vacation.
In October, the sea is warm and 30 degrees.
In November, the day is about +27 °C, at night +17 °C.
Hurghada is one of the oldest and most popular resorts – it has its own airport and a lot of entertainment. Therefore, it is suitable for families, party goers, and fans of extreme entertainment.
The beaches in Hurghada are sand with a gentle entrance, the sea is very shallow, and there are no corals. There is a lot to see in Hurghada itself and in the surrounding area –Hurghada Marina promenade, El Dahar Old Town, Coptic Church, El Mina Mosque, Hurghada Museum. Of entertainment, it is worth visiting the Grand Aquarium, the Neverland show or the water park, which are in abundance here. Luxor
For those who would like an interesting and unusual vacation, the cities on the Nile are suitable. Luxor is ideal for lovers of excursions, located on the site of the ancient Thebes. And here, more than anywhere else, you can enjoy immersion in the culture of Ancient Egypt. There is no access to the sea in Luxor, but you can go on a cruise along the longest and most legendary river.
The average daytime temperature in Luxor in November is kept at +26+28 °C. At night, the air cools down to +16+18 °C.
Aswan
Aswan in southern Egypt is famous for its special heat. Therefore, in November it is still very warm here: during the day +30 ° C and above, at night +19+21 ° C. At the end of the month +27 ° C during the day and +15+17 °C at night. There is no sea here, Aswan, like Luxor, is located on the Nile, and you cannot swim in this river.
Aswan is suitable for those who would like hot weather in November and at the same time not a beach, but an exciting vacation. There are interesting temples and ancient monasteries, the Aswan Dam, the island of Elephantine and other attractions.
Alexandria
Alexandria is located on the Mediterranean coast, so you can come here in September-October – it will still be warm enough, and in November the swimming season is already closed.
In October, it is a couple of degrees cooler here than on the Red Sea. The air temperature in November is +23+25°C. The water temperature is no more than +23 °C at the beginning of the month and +20 ° C at the end. There are fewer people here in autumn – locals like to relax at this resort, for whom autumn is no longer the season. Alexandria has good beaches and modern hotels. For excursions, you can visit the Kite Bay Fort, the Roman Amphitheater, the palace and Montaza Park. Relatively close to Cairo and Giza.
Cairo
The temperature in Cairo in September is 35-38 degrees, in October the average values drop to 29 ° C, and in November by another couple of degrees.
There is no sea in Cairo, but as the capital of an amazing state, it is a very interesting city with museums, majestic mosques and oriental flavor. He will introduce you to the history of Ancient Egypt and the Arab past. It is close to the pyramids from here – 25 minutes.
What to do in Egypt in autumn
In October-November, it is recommended to combine a beach holiday with excursions – it is no longer so hot to walk in open spaces, and a trip to the sights in a few hours is easier to transfer. Therefore, at this time it is ideal to visit the pyramids of Giza and the Great Sphinx, Mount Moses (Sinai), the Valley of the Kings, the Karnak Temple and other impressive cultural monuments that are located in Egypt.
