I’ve been to two Mogilev restaurants that can really be called expensive. These are AMICI and Grand Savoy. The prices there are even higher than what I used to see in Minsk. But otherwise there is nothing supernatural about them. Therefore, today I will leave these two out of the brackets. You can come here only if you need to impress a girl or take a nice picture for social networks.
All other restaurants in Mogilev can be called either medium-priced or quite budget-friendly. If coffee costs 5-7 BYN in Minsk, then in Mogilev you can easily find a good cappuccino for 3 rubles or even for seventy rubles. I found two places where coffee is generally poured for free. Let’s start with them. Today I will present you my selection of places to eat inexpensively in Mogilev, and if you want, add to me in the comments.
“Buffet”: inexpensive breakfasts and free coffee
Externally, the cafe is very discreet. Simple red armchairs, white chandeliers under the ceiling and views of Mogilev on the walls. The only unusual detail is the height meter at the entrance (thanks to it, I found out that I was as tall as Khal Drogo). That’s basically the whole design. Externally, the place looks like a diner from American movies.
But the inconspicuous interior is almost the only thing that I can attribute here to the category of “cons”. In all other respects, I really liked the Buffet. It’s delicious, inexpensive, free coffee is brought to all breakfasts (until 14:00), and there is always a bottle of water from under the filter on the tables.
I ordered “Mogilev Eggs” for 11.90 BYN (marked as “Tourist’s Choice”). And after a couple of minutes they brought me poached eggs with buttercream, tomato salsa, crispy ciabatta and aged cheese. It was delicious.
Tanya took pancakes with chatterbox, ham and cheese (for 13.90 BYN). And then I ordered a honey cake (5 BYN per 100 grams).
In the photo, it all looks so-so, but in reality the breakfast turned out to be good.
Address: Komsomolskaya Street, 5; about 300 meters from the building of the Mogilev city Hall. You can view the menu in advance on the websitebuffet.by .
Da Grill: Mogilev’s most colorful street-food
The menu includes pita, pizza, pancakes and full breakfasts (based on waffles). The prices are quite liberal. For 16-17 rubles, you can eat quite well here.
The feature of the institution is the author’s smazhenki. There are smazhenki with mozzarella, shrimp, soft strachatella cheese and even fried oyster mushrooms. Everything is very tasty. I can’t call it haute cuisine, but I liked it. This project definitely has its own face.
You can view the menu on the websitedagrill.by , as well as in the social networks of the project. The address of the institution: Pervomaiskaya str., 15.
PS. And yes, they also bring free coffee to the order. Plus, there is a special offer “FOUR smudges for the price of THREE”.
Bake House
The popular Mogilev confectionery (which, by the way, is located directly opposite the Da Grill). You enter and immediately find yourself in the world of cakes, croissants, cheesecakes and other pastries. At first it may seem that there is nothing else there except sweets, but this impression is deceptive.
The menu includes teas with cranberries, currants and sea buckthorn (for 1.99 BYN), pies with chicken and pork (for 1.79 BYN) and full breakfasts (for 9.99 BYN). Therefore, you can eat here tightly and on a budget as much as possible.
The address of the institution: Pervomaiskaya 12. Find the current prices on the website bakehouse.by . As I understand it, this place is very popular in Mogilev.
Owl: the most tight-fitting institution in the city
I will immediately write about the disadvantages of this cafe – it is straight very small. Five or six tables and that’s it. Therefore, it is better to book places there in advance. Phone number +375 (29) 9140088.
But the breakfast menu here is the most voluminous. There is everything in the arsenal of dishes: bowls, scrambles, gluten-free khachapuri and even lentil soup. Plus, the place itself seemed very atmospheric to me. Worn brick walls, potted greenery and the music of the band Hurts in the speakers.
I ordered some kind of glamorous shawarma from the food. On the menu, it was labeled as “Roll with baked chicken and homemade sauce on cheese pita bread“. It was delicious, but not perfect. As for me, the authors have noticeably overdone the amount of cabbage (and the “density”).
Tanya took a benedict egg on a cheese waffle with salmon and hollandaise sauce. I did not complain about the execution of the dish.
As for prices, their level is slightly lower here than in Minsk. The cost of breakfast ranges from 9 to 14 BYN. The current menu can be viewed on Instagram @sovacoffee.home. There are prices and photos of the dishes.
Merci
A small but cozy coffee shop right on the pedestrian street. The menu includes cappuccino for 3 BYN and all kinds of cakes (2.7 – 4.5 BYN per 100 grams). After 19-00, there is also a 20% discount on all desserts. Relatively recently, the coffee shop has its own breakfast menu. Examples of dishes can be viewed below.
The address of the institution: Leninskaya, 26 (the intersection between pedestrian street and Pozharny Lane). Find the detailed menu on Instagram @merci.mogilev. For a short stop while walking around the city, the option is good.
Cornflowers
A chain cafe with various dishes of folk cuisine. I successfully ignored it in all cities of Belarus, but it was in Mogilev that I decided to make an exception. The thing is that in this city we always stay at the Atrium Hotel. And he and the Cornflowers are located in neighboring buildings.
The address of the institution: Pervomaiskaya 57. You can view the menu on the websitevasilki.by . The gastronomic arsenal includes various variations of pancakes, as well as cepellines, potato dumplings, cold cuts, numerous soups and other dense dishes. The prices here are not the lowest, but on weekdays there is a lunch menu (from 12 to 15-30). If you decide to follow my example and choose the Atrium Hotel for an overnight stay, Cornflowers will be a good addition for him.
I can also sincerely recommend the hotel itself. There is an unlimited SPA included in the room rate; rooms with panoramic windows and prices that are twice lower than in similar hotels in Minsk. For a weekend trip, it’s a great option.
You can check everything personally on this page.
Burger House (or “They fought for burgers”)
Externally, the establishment is very simple. But, as I understand it, it is quite popular among the residents of Mogilev. On the menu – burgers (12 BYN each), beer fried sausages, chicken wings, pizza and everything else in the same spirit. I came here twice–and both times the place was packed. On the one hand, this is a minus, of course. On the other hand, it is an indicator that the local burgers seemed delicious not only to me.
For a detailed menu, see the website burgerhouse.by . The address of the institution: Leninskaya, 45. This is the very beginning of the pedestrian street near the Square of Stars.
Restaurant 101
And this is rather not a restaurant, but some kind of local landmark. The “Fireman” restaurant, in Pozharny Lane, is completely filled with fire equipment. On the street next to it there is a museum of old equipment; inside there are light bulbs in the form of fire lanterns and a bar counter in the form of a fire truck. There is also a similar institution in Minsk, but it was in Mogilev that this whole “fiery” theme unfolded to its fullest.
The address of the institution: 6/2 Pozharny Lane. You can view the menu on the website101rest.by on the Mogilev tab.
I liked climbing on fire trucks in the yard, taking pictures of fire trucks. But the food seemed too simple to me. I just remember that it was inexpensive.
Afterword
Continuing the topic of the sights of Mogilev, I highly recommend that you read my great article about this city. It’s as beautiful as a rainbow in the April sky, and as healthy as oatmeal in the morning. You can find it at the link below.
As for the organizational aspects, here I can share with you a few useful links.
- Minibuses and trains to Mogilev search on the websites atlasbus.by and RW.BY . Rail transport is cheaper and more comfortable, but there are many minibuses and they travel every hour.
